Nostalgia and teen angst are abounded in OFF TOPIC, an eclectic group exhibition staged in the abandoned Hot Topic. Imbued with the edgy aesthetics of late 80s/early 90’s countercultural subcultures, this moody exhibit is shielded from the bright, sanitary glare of the rest of the suburban mall. Dramatic and dimly lit, with blasting music, it showcases a blend of clothing-as-art, high and lowbrow interiors, painting, pop culture readymades, ceramics, and video. Participating artists include The Mall curatorial partners Lagoon and Everywhere Shop, as well as Miriam Abrahams, Hannah Bigeleisen, Stuart J. Gibson, Melisa Humphrey + Bridget Mullen, Andrea Merkx, John Richey, Annie Schap, Jennifer Sullivan, The Love Loves (Merkx + Gwynne),VHS GIRL, and Flora Wilds.
